It's a thing or something

Iphi la wayi ?

In English - where is that thing?

Sister Betina

The South African National Anthem, written and performed by our very own, Mgarimbe.

They all lost their minds when Sister Betina started playing.

Chief

General term used by people in politics (comrades) and Tenderpreneurs to refer to each other.

No one:
Comrade: Why are you being emotional, chief? Politics are not for the weak.

Nkabi

A Zulu term for an assassin or hitman (a person hired to kill another person or a group of people), very popular in the KwaZulu Natal province.

They hired inkabi to kill him but he survived.

Bafazi

Creatures which must be avoided by all men To live a peaceful life.

“Bafazi Abanangcondo outy yami”

Covidpreneur

Covidpreneurs are those dodgy tenderpreneurs who loot the government money intended for Covid-19 tenders. They register dodgy businesses and win tenders but they either not deliver at all or they deliver below par results.

Deals that are believed to be worth more than R2.2bn, involving emergency purchases of personal protective equipment (PPE) are being said to be chowed by Covidpreneurs.

Babalaas

Can also be spelled Bhabhalaza, Babalaz, bhabhalazi - is a hangover or that feeling in the morning after a night of heavy drinking.

I'm struggling to wake up today because babalaas is nyisaring me.

Mgqakhwe

In Xhosa, umgqakhwe is a derogatory term used to refer to someone born out of wedlock.

"Makungangeni mgqakhwe ebandleni likaYehova; nesizukulwana sawo seshumi masingangeni ebandleni likaYehova." - deuteronomy 23
"No one born of a forbidden marriage nor any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the LORD, even down to the tenth generation."

Mandoza

Mandoza was a Kwaito legend who gave us a lot of hit songs like Nkalakatha, Tornado, etc.
May he continue to rest 🙏🏾

I really miss Mandoza right now.

Indlala

Indlala is the formal Xhosa term for hunger or poverty.
