Faa

"'Faa' is a borrowed word used for emphasis, originating from Hausa. It is often used at the end of expressions by Yoruba speakers with a Hausa background or origin. This phenomenon is particularly common among Yoruba people in Ilorin and Kogi.


Mรกa na faa= I will beat you.

Ben 10

In South Africa, Ben 10 has nothing to do with cartoons. It rather refers to a young male who is dating an older female.


I was once a Ben 10 and she used to give me money for alcohol every weekend.

Mjolo

Mjolo basically means dating. It's derived from ukujola which means to date. Therefore mjolo is the act of dating (ukujola).

Other people may spell it as mojolo


Mjolo will nyisa you. 


Masonja

Masonja are Mopane worms that are mostly eaten in Limpopo.


I would rather starve than to eat masonja.

Mbhaqanga

Mbhaqanga is the Xhosa version of Maskandi music.


My dad is always listening to Mbhaqanga.


Isibhamu somdoko

Isibhamu somdoko is a recent viral term that means penis or dick. Isibhamu is gun and umdoko is porridge, so the whole term translates to porridge gun ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’ฆ


Ngimshaye ngesibhamu somdoko.

Borga

Borga is a Ghanaian slang used to describe a man who just returned from overseas. Usually such a man dresses flamboyantly with chains and rings.


โ€œMy brother has just returned from overseas.โ€

โ€œOh nice. The borga has landed!โ€


Mngani wa yena

A Tsonga term for "his friend / her friend" that is apparently used to identify unknown soccer players by commentators.
They would call all the names of the "famous" players and when they reach the unknown player, they would say mngani wa yena (his friend).


And he passes the ball to Jabu Pule... Jabu Pule passes to mngani wa yena.

Chow

A South African slang term for food / to eat.


1. Food - They serve nice chow there.
2. Eat - Let's go chow before the dining hall closes.


Yellow Bone

A term that is used to refer to light skinned people (mostly girls).
If you are a guy and someone calls you a yellow bone, then something is wrong my guy ๐Ÿ˜‚


We were just chilling and this yellow bone came in and everyone was looking at her. It was like a dream ๐Ÿ˜

TUT

A University in Pretoria (Tshwane), South Africa. TUT is short for Tshwane University of Technology. It is known for being in the forefront of all violent strikes/protests in South Africa.
